Cat on a Clock Words & music by Timothy Walsh Verse 1 (Him) You come softly down the stairs into my waiting arms. Hand you coffee, touch your hair…it seems that you’re not there. I don’t say it but I know, on this special day, your body’s here with me, but you’re a million miles away. I don’t say it—I don’t want to tell no one— You’re going nowhere but you’re always on the run. Verse 2 (Arabella) Morning comes, I stretch in bed, see the sun come through the blinds. Hear you in the kitchen there, smell the coffee so divine. I rub my eyes, decide if I can slide into this day, or maybe spread my wings and softly fly away. I don’t know why I’m so restless in this world. It’s like I’m from some country where I can’t return. CHORUS: You’re like a cat upon a clock sleeping in the sun, whiling away your time on earth until our day is done. Just like a cat upon a clock dreaming through the day while the world outside goes on and softly spins away. Verse 3 (Him) Twilight comes and I see you in the garden where the cedars and the pines are your sisters in the sky. You walk out among the herbs, barefoot on the bricks, smell the chervil and the thyme that never ask you why. You’re so lost to me I don’t know what I’ll do. I’m so in love with every single thing you do. Verse 4 (Arabella) Some days I wish that I could go flying through the sky— spread my wings just like a crow and take off with a sigh. Somewhere beyond the moon, I think I’ll find my home, far away from this earth and this house of flesh and bone. I’m not angry, I just don’t know how to say I’m a creature not like you in any way. CHORUS (sung twice)

You don't know what you can be when you're going around with him. You don't know that I can see that you're doing it all again. Stop! You don't understand why you are falling in his trap. Stop! You don't understand why you are falling for such crap. CHORUS: You belong to me in my dreams. You belong to me in my very own lonely dreams. You don't know that you are free to cast off this damn town. You don't know that he can see you're the only thing around. Take all that I can give and you can buy yourself some time. Take all that I can give even though you never will be mine. CHORUS: You belong to me in my dreams. You belong to me in my very own lonely dreams. BRIDGE: If you could only see what you're doing to me to cause such pain. If you could only know that your eyes are hard-wired in my brain. I remember how we were when we were young and bold. I remember how we were before we got so old. Now my days all feel so wrong and empty all the time. Now my nights all seem so long and lonely as the pines. Girl Without You Words & Music by Timothy Walsh Girl without you I'm a clown. Living with you not around. I don't want to go there...tell you...I can't tell you and... I don't want to see you...now I'm like a fool and I... I don't want you to say give me all my world, not living.... I don't want you to know--take me from this town... time without living now. How can I say I love you? Mind is stuck, tongue is glue. Take a minute, I know--tell you--I can't tell you and... I don't want to say that I know...take a moment and... I don't want you to say take me from this world, not living. I don't want you to know--take me from this town... world without living now. Now that I know I can't say. Where would we be far away. I just want to be there--tell you...I can't tell you and... You don't want to go there--with me...I can tell you are.... I don't want you to know--take me from this world--not living. I just want you to say take me in this town-- time without living now.

about

A four-song EP encompassing a range of moods. The title track is a dreamy duet with Amanda Kim Sanderson. "You Belong to Me in My Dreams" is a guitar-fueled romp with father and son letting it rip on guitars while Mom joins in on vocals. "Girl Without You," is an old demo, a whimsical song about someone literally tongue-tied by love. The EP ends with--what?--a live performance by Penelope's Thrill? Well, read the track notes about that!

about

Penelope's Thrill Madison, Wisconsin

Penelope's Thrill is a lucky accident. Lured out of musical retirement by son Andrew, Timothy Walsh dusted off his guitars, including his favorite vintage Guilds and Gretsches, and picked up where he left off 25 years ago playing in garage bands in New Jersey and Boston.
Tim founded Penelope's Thrill as the vehicle for his songs, often pulling in other musicians for particular tracks.
